We must get to a point where the rich and the poor have the same path to citizenship. But the rough truth is that the stricter the immigration laws, the more desperate the journey and the more necessary coyote. I don’t know the answer to that

thank you for writing about this and more importantly thanks for tutoring jackson! what a beautiful support. i admit i was nervous when you said your post would be polemic (si tenemos la misma palabra! :) ) but generally i agree that we must find a middle path. i have watched the first hour of an interview you posted with an Iranian author recently, I admire your commitment to unpacking global politics and wonder if i might suggest for you an interview I loved ?

this section is where we primarily diverge "The fact that many privileged Ivy League students on student visas exhibit a suicidal empathy for terrorists whose only goal is to see the West destroyed." is where we diverge and i hope we can continue the discussion about where the borders of native resistance blend with horrifying revenge.

overall in the last 2 years i feel a bedrock truth that there has never and will never be a youth led movement against the military industrial complex which history has not vindicated

thanks for your smart brain and equally smart style

Thank you for this. A middle path feels like the only way right now. And re/divergent points: I am willing to hear your side and change my mind every time new information is presented. Thank you for engaging with this in such a kind and respectful way. It’s not easy to be polemic 🥹

Indeed the sign of someone who THINKS and does just blindly follow what is trendy in their circles.

Beautiful. We’ve lost the idea that decency and respect needs to be woven throughout the fabric of every policy. We “Americans” are losing ourselves.

What a beautiful musing on such a complicated topic. It’s refreshing to find any voice of nuance these days.
